Another exciting week in Liffeybank's second running of the Last One Standing competition

We started the week with 15 players, and we had 3 fallers thanks to Newcastle. A brave pick it has to be said!!

Spare a thought for Liffeybank's own club secretary amongst other roles, Jim Keating, who was on the verge of being assigned Liverpool as per the late pick rules, but he intervened just in time to gamble on Newcastle.

Frank Mc and Tony Lawlor also fell at the second hurdle. Better luck next time.

So onto the successful participants -

Liverpool ended up pummelling Crystal Palace after going ahead early on and weathering a bit of a storm for 30 minutes in the first half. 7-0 to the league champions. Bobby Firmino adding a couple of goals to his assist to show the numbers people that he's still around (football people already knew he was). Andrew, Conor, Carol and Dave profiting.

Chelsea ended up with a commanding looking win over West Ham, with 2 late goals from Tammy Abraham, which resulted in a perennially, yet increasingly erratic Gary Neville to label him as Chelsea's Bobby Firmino. Facepalms the world over at what could only be described as footballing blasphemy. (GNev also named £100 million Paul Pogba as the "one to look out for" for the 4th consecutive year.............. sigh..... I pay good money for Sky, I should not have that inflicted on me). Glen, Mark and Martin picked Chelsea.

Everton decided not to commit GBH on anyone this week as they overcame struggling Arsenal 2-1, helped by an own goal from Rob Holding. Arteta's (and Arsenal fans) supreme overconfidence at the end of last season was a bit over the top but he should be given sufficient time to correct things and build his own squad. Dave Mc and Vincent go through to the next round.

Man City got a very good win away to a strong Southampton side, with Raheem Sterling, Tokyo 2021 high swan dive gold medal hopeful, deciding to display only his football talents with a neat finish from a De Bruyne cross. Spare a thought for Danny Ings went off early on with a knee complaint. Fingers crossed for him, he's a great lad. Jane picking Man City this week.

And last, but by far not least, a big shout out to our Oracle of the week.......... Martina Keenan, who picked Burnley to win. I wouldn't pick Burnley to win anything myself, apart from a "how to leave a reducer on someone and get away with it" competition with Everton.
